We hope you can join us in-person in beautiful Sundsvall, Sweden. However, we understand that this may not be possible due to some remaining travel restrictions and health concerns. No matter how you plan to attend, we look forward to seeing you August 1 – 3! The SAS 2022 program is now available online! View Program Mark Your Calendars Important Dates Call for Papers Sensors Applications Symposium provides a unique opportunity for researchers and developers to share progress in sensor technologies, methods, applications, standardization, and commercialization. General and Special Sessions offer forums where participants can exchange ideas and gain information on the sensor state of the art. A mix of plenary, poster, demonstration, plug-fests, and other networking activities ensure that your work will be seen. Full paper submissions are encouraged – a full review process will be followed to ensure the high quality of those papers finally accepted and presented at the conference. Symposium Topics Sensor Applications Assisted Living Energy and Smart Grid Environmental Monitoring Industrial Applications Medical and Biomedical Applications Non-destructive Evaluation Remote Sensing Sensing Solutions for the Internet of Things Sensors for Aerospace Sensors for Robotics and Automation Sensors for Smart Mobility Smart Agriculture Smart Buildings Smart Cities and Communities Sensor Technologies and Methods MEMS and Nano-sensors Novel Sensing Technologies Flexible and Wearable Sensors Energy Harvesting for Autonomous Sensors Memristive Sensors Optical Sensors Big Data in Sensing Systems Sensor Data Visualisation Sensor Data Fusion Sensor Networks Wireless and Contactless Sensors Sensor Standards ISO/IEC/IEEE Standards Submit a Paper Today! Special Session Call for Papers #1 The ubiquitous diffusion of sensing systems required to implement a more sustainable society poses new challenges to the sensors cycle of life. On the one hand, sensing systems will be necessary for infusing everyday life with electronic-based sensing capabilities. On the other hand, low-cost or even disposable sensing systems require new materials and technologies. At least three main aspects need to be considered when searching for more sustainable sensing systems. We need low-cost and environmentally-safe raw materials and production strategies that require low energy consumption and moderate release of pollutants into the environment. And finally, but not less important, resulting systems that can be recycled, or even better, biodegraded. As a further aspect, the environmental fingerprint of the envisaged hardware needs to be carefully investigated, and new metrics need to be defined. The Special Session will be devoted to all aspects of the sensing system life, transducers, and novel measurement systems relevant to their environmental impact, from materials to production steps and after-life fate. Session Topics Green electronics Sensors, transducers and sensing systems for a sustainable economy Novel methods for sensing Emerging technologies for sensors and sensing methods Low-cost and low-energy based production processes Green-chemistry for sensing system fabrication Additive or low-temperature production processes Ink-jet based transducers Polymer-based transducers Bio-polymer based transducers Low-power or non-battery based sensing systems Energy harvesting and converters Disposable and biodegradable transducers Models and simulations of novel sensing systems for a sustainable society Environmental fingerprint of electronics and sensing systems Submit a Paper Today! Special Session Call for Papers #2 Recent advances in embedded system design are enabling the use of wearable/implantable electronics in several domains, especially in HMI development and rehabilitation applications. The wave of medical IoT requires combining extreme energy efficiency on resource-constrained devices with the need for computationally demanding algorithms, such as deep learning frameworks. This Special Session will collect contributions from different research domains, ranging from sensors technologies to embedded algorithm optimization. These multimodal contributions aim to enable more pervasive and ubiquitous systems to help design next-generation wearable/implantable systems. Session Topics Fields of interest include, but are not limited to: Wearable/implantable devices Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications for medical IoT Digital Low-power architectures for wearable devices Recent advances in sensor technologies for biomedical applications and HMI Submit a Paper Today!
